Animal Testing - Good
This topic is going to offend some people. My view on this is not popular. But I am realistic.
I had overheard a conversation between a few people about how animals are used. They are used in testing make-up, medicines, diseases, military testing, drug detection, bomb detection, etc…. Animal lovers get theirselves all worked up, and understandably so, over animal testing. I understand that people love cats, dogs, monkeys, dolphins, etc… They are cute and cuddly (except dolphins, I don’t think you can cuddle a dolphin) and make little cute sounds that make some people’s hearts just melt. They are passionate about how it is wrong, bad and cruel to use animals for testing. I begin to lend a sympathetic ear to these folks until the realist in me kicks in.
I would rather take medicine that has been tested on lab rats to ensure that my stomach is not going to explode as a side effect than to gamble that it is safe without testing. I would rather send a few dogs down a path searching out landmines and bombs than an 18 year old private that just joined the military. I would rather use animals than humans.
See, I value human life over animal life any day. And if using and losing a few animals saves/helps millions and millions of humans I am OK with that. Besides, it is not like we can test on humans anyway. Ideally, I would like to use some of the wasted humans that are locked in jail cells and on death row. I think they would make good test subjects. And if we lose a few of those in the process of testing and for the greater good, I am OK with that as well. Unfortunately, even on the scum of the earth we cannot test on.
In the grand scheme of things, better a few dead dolphins, pigs, cats and rats then humans, in my opinion.
I tend to agree with you Mark. I only wish they could be less cruel to the test subjects. Rather than be crammed in cages 24 hours a day they should be able to get some exercise and have good lives while they are able, we owe them that for helping us out - and that might also make their testing results more accurate, as well. My big question is - where do they GET the animal subjects in the first place? From shelters? Nobody will bring their pets there anymore if that is the case. Are they stealing them off the street? I know they can breed rats easily enough but the dogs/cats - where do those come from? Hmmm. Some child’s pet that strayed? That part is the part that gives me the creeps.
I agree with both of you, ( Mark and Teeni). 100%
DITTO…. Human lives are more precious.
I totally can agree, even if it does still make me a little sad for the animals.
I would assume that they would get the animals from shelters/pounds because ultimiately they can take up too much room and they’ll be put to sleep anyhow if they’re not adopted out. I know that’s how our local pound works. . . if they animal stays more than 3 months, it’s a gone’r.
I do agree with you, Mark, as well. I cant see testing on humans for anything that could possibly cause harm.
All of you who have agreed that animal testing is good are tossers because how can you rely on a product that has been tested on an animal when animals bodies and genetics are totally different to ours. Any one who tests or agrees with testing on animals should be ashamed of their sad selves and i hope they get a bad reaction to a product that has been tested by animals.
You are right. It is so much better to put humans in harm’s way.

ANIMAL TESTING IS WRONG
At first i thought that animal testing was cruel and wrong, but now when you really put some thought into it you realize that if one of your family members was at state and the only way to save them was do use a couple rats and bunnies for test. I would so agree.
(P.S. This article has changed my view on animal testing)

i do agree that it is good in one way to test animals but on the other would you like it if it was your animal that was getting tested on things that you did not know about and could die at any moment and even though animal testing saves our lives why do they have to test the poor wee animals just because they do not have enough money to find another way of testing things.
Fuck you!! you are a ignorant peace of shit that only thinks of them selves. Animals were put on this earth for us to eat, not for us to exploit them the way we do. Why don’t you grow a hart and stop giving such stupid ass comments for the world to know just how ignorant and idiotic you are.
I totally support animal testing. And for you people that think I’m cold and heartless-go ahead and assume that, because I’m NOT. I happen to love animals. But when it comes down to it-wouldn’t you rather sacrfice an animal life over a HUMAN LIFE? I would. In a heart beat.
Seriously guys, think about it. If animal testing wasn’t benefital for our health and safty-wouldn’t they of stopped it long ago? I THINK SO!
And for those of you that think its “cruel” just think. One animals life made a difference for hundreds-maybe even thousands of human lives!!
Aren’t humans more important than animals? Yes.
Have a nice day (:
I agree. People are more important then animals, and i’m in PETA. not one of the violengt ones. Just a veg.
