They Are All Odd

The neighbors across the street from me are a bit odd.  Not in a bad way though.

They have a son who is High School age.  In the summer, every Wednesday, he will cut the grass, no matter that it has not rained on over a month and the grass is not growing, at 7:oo a.m.  7.  In the morning.  In the summer. At 7.  On the nose.  Not 7:01.  Not 7:30.  7.  Even if the grass doe not need cut he is out there cutting it.

I don’t know weather to applaude this kid because of his work ethic or to slap him because he is up at 7 in the morning to cut grass every week.  High schoolers that are off in the summer should be sleeping in every morning until 11 and up all night until 4 a.m.  Not this family.  Not this kid.  Odd I’ll tell ya.

Then the parents go away for a week and leave the kids behind, no parties nothing.  When parents go away you throw a huge kegger, rock out, teenaged kids having sex in every room, the works.  Not these two kids.

They are like living next to the Amish.  No air conditioning runs in the summer,  no lights on in the evening, but I do hear the TV through the open windows from time to time.  Like I said, they are odd.

The real reason I was writing this was that we had some thunderstorms roll through early this morning.  As I was up getting ready I could hear thunder, but also, I could hear something else too.  The familiar sound of the neighbor’s weedwacker.  Even thunderstorms could not keep this kid from cutting the grass.  But wait, it gets better, after cutting the grass, the wet grass that got thrown around landed on his parents car and now he was washing the car.  As I was leaving at 7:30, he was out and washing the car.

I have half a mind to go over and slap some sense into the kid.  He’s not normal.  None of them are.  They all are odd.
