Cold Pizza for the Soul
I am craving cold pizza. No, I am not pregnant. It is just one of those things I crave from time to time.
There are some pizza joints that make a really great hot pizza, pizza so wonderful that you just say to hell with diets and portion size, I am going to finish this whole pizza. Pizza that you just set your mind on for days because it is that good. I have two great places that I go to for pizza like that. Unfortunately, once you refrigerate it, it is no longer as wonderful as it was the night before. Actually, it is quite a let down.
Then there are places that have pizza that is just OK. Not great pizza, not bad pizza, but pizza that will do in a pinch. I have found that these average places are the ones where the pizza turns out the best cold. I will go to these places and buy their average pizza just to put in the fridge for the next morning.
Cold pizza for breakfast is better than any 5 star restaurant’s breakfast. Cold pizza and a glass of orange juice is wonderful. Cold pizza, a glass of OJ and a newspaper is heavenly. Most people find this as disgusting. It’s not. Everyone should try it.
It almost seems like at this point I should be drawing some sort of analogy between pizza and life, or pizza and sex, or pizza and kids, but the truth is I have not analogy for pizza. It is what it is. There is no moral compass for pizza. There is no Dr Ruth for pizza. There is no Dr Phil for pizza. Quite frankly, there is nothing to Life, Sex, Kids, or Pizza. People can make all the analogies in the world for these things, but it is what it is. It is what you put into it. It is how you control it. It is how you deal with it. You have good and bad in everything. It is how you control it. I can experience average pizza and turn it into a great experience by adapting and controlling it, refrigerating it. I can do the same thing in Life, adapt and control it. Take something average and mundane and turn it into a great experience.
Hmmm…. I guess I did end up turning cold pizza into an analogy. That certainly was not my intent. This was honestly going to be about my wonderful breakfast of cold pizza and OJ. So I think I will get off my soapbox and wrap up these free flowing thoughts.
