Fishing

Fishing is like Poker, it is all about luck.  That is why Fishing is no more a sport than Poker.  Fishing takes not skill.  You bait a hook and hope you have an animal that is dumb enough and hungry enough to eat your bait.  You bluff in fishing just like poker.  You bluff that your bait was real food of the fish. 

That said, I have been going out once a year on a charter boat off the coast of Delaware and into the mouth of the Delaware Bay with friends for the past 4 years.  I go because they do the trip as a fundraiser.  They go out of Bowers Beach De. on the Miss Shyanne.  While I never, in the past four years, have caught anything but sunburn, I still go and I enjoy the boat ride.  I go to drink huge amounts of beer.

I am bad at fishing.  Really bad.  I have no luck at all.  I am so bad that when I fish I can’t even catch someone elses line on mine, that is how bad I am.  I really just waste bait every year.

This year though was different.  I went out with the group yesterday.  This year my friend standing next to me and I caught a total of 50 Croakers.  We caught the most fish on the boat.  The majority of the fish were coming in weighing at about one pound or more.  Every time we dropped our lines the fish instantly would bite the bait.  It was exciting to have others on the boat be jealous of me for once.

I certainly made up for the past 4 years.  After we cleaned the fish my friend and I still had about 20 pounds of fish between us.  It was a good day.  I think I will cook some fish tonight for dinner.

I still think fishing is stupid.  But this year, I think I called their bluff.
